Security Permissions

Security Permissions assigned to users apply to all areas the user has access to.  For example, a Master User with Reports permissions will be able to run reports in Master Mode as well as in any of the Site Datasets.

Site users permissions apply only to their assigned site dataset.

 

Some permissions are inclusive of others while most are exclusive.

 

Admins

Full permissions, includes all other permissions.

ChecklistAdmin

May modify, delete, and create new Checklists.

ChecklistAppend

May create new Checklists, modify their own Checklists, but cannot modify or delete existing ones.

DataEditAll

May edit all users' data in the Observation Data window.

DataEditOwn

May edit Observation Data that was entered by the current user.  It is recommended that anyone who has the DataEntry permission also has the DataEditOwn permission.

DataEntry

Has permissions to enter Observation Data.

DataViewAll

Has permission to view but not edit all users' Observation Data.

MasterListAdmin*

Full permissions in the Master Category List and Master Behavior List.

MasterListAppend*

May add new Categories and Behaviors, but cannot modify or delete existing ones.

Reports

May run Reports.

UserSettings

May access and modify the User Settings screen.  Recommended for all users unless login is shared by multiple people.

VariableAdmin

Full permissions on Observer List, and User-Defined Variables Lists.

VariableAppend

May add Observers and User-Defined Variable items, but cannot modify or delete existing items.

LanguageAdmin*

Permission to access and modify Multilanguage translations.

 

* These permission groups have the ability to modify data that may affect other sites.  Please use caution when assigning these permissions to site-level users.
